Works for two single coils as well as a humbucker
The Out-Of-Phase (OOP) sound is a more colourful addition to your sound palette than you might think – given how rarely this wiring option is used.
If you have more than one pickup, you can add a switch to add the Out-Of-Phase (OOP) sound. To be more precise: you don’t need two pickups, two coils is more accurate. Two coils could mean two separate single coil pickups or a humbucker pickup, which has two coils built in. It could also mean a combination of a humbucker and a single coil. Imagine a humbucker in the bridge position and a P90 in the neck position.
The two single coils in this wiring diagram are placeholders for the two pickups (or coils) which you want to use for switching in and out of phase.
NOTE: If you play around with Out-Of-Phase sounds, the humbucking effect (less buzz) might be lost in some of the switch constellations.
