This wiring diagram offers simplicity when playing and requires no additional hardware when consolidating the usual two tone into a single master tone control.
The original Fender Stratocaster wiring uses one master volume and two tone controls. There are plenty opinions about how to best use the two tone controls for the three single coil pickups. There is little controversy about wiring diagrams which have only one master tone control for whatever pickup combination your switches allow. Why not do the same for your Stratocaster style wiring?
If you make this change to your Strat-wiring, you are also freeing up space for additional sound controls – in the place where the second tone control once was. Fancy a blender for the middle pickup or a switch for “out of phase” sounds?
This wiring diagram illustrates the change from the classic Stratocaster wiring scheme with the traditional setup of two separate tone controls to a (modern?) configuration with only one master tone control. No extra hardware required and the 5 position switch will operate as always.
